Angor Animi
Cyclothymia
Talheim Records
Angor Animi is Italian project from Kjiel: vocals, guitars. In studio, he was supported by Lea who was doing additional guitars, bass, drums and production, however all music for the album was written by Kjiel.
It`s very melancholic, de(e)pressive and atmospheric album. Every song boils with emotional vocals - shattered by what it means to experience a humanity, relationships generally in life, which are rather not positive themes in this album. Music cries out anxiety, it cries internal, human dilemmas and phobias out, it suffer pain of co-existence with other people and fear of second chances, music is almost on the edge of insanity and madness but songs are never violent in this album. All vocals are performed very in depth, sound despaired, disturbed and agitated. Even if Angor Animi is more a solo project, many songs feature guest vocalists (I believe there were three other singers involved in recording process of many songs), by whom music takes on various shades but the atmosphere of the album always revolves around a huge amount of melancholy and different states of emotional collapses which may cause life phobias.
I recently reviewed the band Eyelessight (also signed with Talheim Records) which plays in a similar style to Angor Animi. I think some band members play in both bands...
... So, quite naturally, Cyclothymia is definitely a very emotional black metal album, and not as many bands out there play music as much in depth like those Italians do.
